How To Get Pet Hair Off The Furniture?
Okay, so today’s question is what is the best way to get pet hair off of furniture?
That is an excellent question. And there are seven ways to get pet hair off of furniture, and five of them are for professional house cleaners, and two of them are for homeowners. So, I’m going to cover all seven of those ways with you. Now, don’t worry about taking notes because all the notes are already saved for you in the show notes in the little “show more” section, and links to the things I’m about to tell you are also there.
1. Nitrile gloves
So put on a new pair of nitrile gloves. It will cost you about a dime. Put on a new pair of nitrile gloves and start at the top of the furniture or the cushion and go in the same direction. You don’t want to smear it all over. You want to go in one direction. As you scrape the pet hair off, it will adhere to the gloves, and it will come off in a little row or a little line that’s just like a glob of pet hair.

Now, there are some fine fibers and fabrics that have pet hair embedded in them, like you can’t even vacuum it. You vacuum it, there are still pet hair. That would be like if you lift up the cushion on your couch, and there’s this fabric where the leather meets the edges of the frame and that’s all covered in cat hair and dog hair, that’s going to be embedded in there. There are a couple of ways that you can get this out of your furniture fabric. I’m not talking about leather. I’m talking about the furniture fabric that’s underneath the cushions of your couch.
6. Fabric softener
Take a squeegee bottle, just an empty spray bottle, and mix seven-part water to one-part fabric softener, okay? This will make the area smell nice, but it will also moisten it just a little bit. Once it’s moistened just a little bit you can take a pumice stone. A pumice stone, you can buy them in a little block, it’s a porous stone and they’re kind of heavy. You start again just like you did with the gloves. Start in one position and scrape in the same direction.
Don’t go back and forth. Don’t go in a circle. Start at the top and scraped downward. Start at the top, scraped downward. Start at the top, scrape downward. Again, you’re going to create a little thing at the bottom where all of the dog or cat hair collects, and then you can vacuum up that little thing that you’ve created. It’s just a little glob of hair. You can vacuum that up with the vacuum.
7. Pumice stone
So, you want to leave yourself a one-inch frame around the area that you’re scraping, and then you want to use your rubber brush to get that, or your nitrile gloves to go in and to get around those areas in the frame area that you created. I hope that makes sense because this is also a podcast. I have to go to great lengths to try to explain to you what I’m talking about so you can imagine it in your mind because you can’t see it.
